Before attempting to remove scale from the walls of a cast iron pipeline, you should first determine the extent of the scale build up. To do this you need to use the BULLET. This is constructed from polystyrene and is designed to be worn down by the scale build up on its way through the pipe. Insert it and allow the water to push it through. Measure the reduced size of the bullet and insert a scale drill one size larger than the bullet to start with.
